EISMAN 2012

EISMAN 2012

Scott wanted a lightweight bass with an acoustic sound and a continuous fingerboard, like the one on our Golden Fretless Bass. He was also fond of the fact that the Golden bass had no visible pickups or controls. In addition, he also specified that the body should be a single-cutaway design.

We ended up building the bass using beautifully flamed mahogany for the body, Swiss Alpine spruce for the top, and snakewood for the fingerboard. The instrument’s electronics were specially developed by Swiss acoustic amplification genius Stephan Schertler. Mounted underneath the fingerboard (a section of which is removable, and held in place using magnets), the pickups are completely hidden from view. The instrument’s controls are mounted inside the soundhole.

Because Scott is a fan of the 15th century paintings by Caravaggio, we finished the outside of the bass in the red hues that dominate Caravaggio’s works, using a gold finish for the inside.

And yes, the bass sounds amazing!
