· Custom-built
The client was enchanted by the form and elegance of our jazz guitar.
She was especially taken by the choice of wood used in the traditional
jazz guitar building. But the top and the back should be flat and the head
shape similar to some of our electric-guitars. The client asked for an asym-
metric sound hole. At our first meeting, we gathered that the client loves
bears, gold and mother-of-pearls. She also has a passion for Asia. Especially
China. These elements we have incorporated into this series of designs.
The design that was eventually chosen and of course the guitar that resulted
from it, takes into consideration all these aspects. For example the mother-
of-pearl inlay and the bridge which are both Chinese characters and reflect
Asian aesthetics. Her predilection for bears led us to choose bearclaw spruce.
We chose gold for all the hardware and abalone for the tuner knobs.
Of course we also built in a Schertler pick-up system.
